Heinz Secret Ingredient Spaghetti Bolognese
Tried and trusted for years, Heinz products are the perfect add in to so many delicious dishes. One such famous dish includes Heinz catsup a secret ingredient for making the tastiest Spaghetti Bolognese. Although there are several variations to this dish, one of the most popular on the family menu is the recipe that follows below.
Heinz Secret Ingredient Spaghetti Bolognese
450-500g / 1 lb top loin or chuck minced
453.6g chopped onion
Two cloves fresh garlic
170g chopped raw carrot
60ml olive oil
237ml red wine
Two 800g Heinz tins of crushed tomatoes
One bay leaf for flavour
herbs to taste
2ml Heinz catsup (secret ingredient)
beef stock
salt to taste
black or white pepper to taste
453.6g cooked spaghetti
Parmesan cheese for topping
olive oil for coating spaghetti
Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente then drain and set aside
brown the minced beef in a large skillet in 60ml olive oil. Spoon the beef out with a slotted spoon and set aside
Spoon into the heated pan the chopped onions, carrot and garlic cloves. Sprinkle herbs over top. Cook until softened, then add the minced beef, tomatoes, red wine, Heinz catsup, salt and pepper, beef stock and bay leaf. Heat to a boil, then let cook on medium heat, giving it a quick stir from time to time. Remove the bay leaf and toss into the garbage pail. Spoon into a large bowl the cooked spaghetti and stir in the olive oil. Spoon mounds of spaghetti onto dinner plates, then ladle the hot beef and tomato mixture over the top. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. To complete the meal, serve a green salad and offer a large crusty slice of oven fresh bread with melted butter.
